Why Did Will Wait?
Kate waited ten years for her prince to propose…many women would have given up around year five or considered that fate was screaming “he’s not the one” right around year seven, but not Kate. She knew Will was for her and so she waited until the time was right.
Why did Prince William take 10 years to propose marriage? Some speculate that he wanted to sow his wild oats. Others claim that he wasn’t so sure about Kate. And still others look to his desire to achieve professional success before settling down.
Rubbish to all of it, I say. If you want the answer to the question why Will took 10 years to propose to his lovely Kate, you need only to reference your local history book. Will didn’t wait ten years because he wasn’t ready to be a husband, Will waited because he wasn’t quite ready to be a father.
Consider this: Queen Elizabeth married Prince Phillip in November 1947; 12 short months later, the couple had their first child (Prince Charles) in November 1948. Following his mother’s lead, Prince Charles married in July 1981; less than a year later, the late Princess Diana gave birth to Prince William in June 1982. And in July 1986 Prince Andrew married Sarah Ferguson; two years later, Princess Beatrice was born.
It is fully expected that William and Kate will marry and produce an heir to the British throne in short order. You can bet there will be none of this “let’s wait 10 years to have kids,” business. Royal watchers predict we will see a pregnant Kate in Fall 2011, a thrill (to be sure) for the Queen. As a result of this expectation and enormous anticipation by all, it isn’t a far stretch to deduce that Will wanted to wait to propose (and marry) until he was ready to be a father, full well knowing that becoming a husband is tantamount to becoming one.
